What you can visit
The Monumental Halls of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana are those of the former Library of St Mark, largely designed by Jacopo Sansovino and completed by Vincenzo Scamozzi. They include the remarkable Grand Staircase; the Vestibule, later transformed into the Public Statuary; and the splendidly decorated Hall, formerly used as the Library. Together, these spaces form a historical and artistic itinerary of exceptional interest and value.
Today, the historic Library serves as a museum area and as a venue for temporary exhibitions and events.
