The Photographic Reproduction Service coordinates requests submitted to the Library for digital reproductions of manuscripts and printed works. Reproductions of modern printed works (published after 1900) are carried out using scanners, in compliance with current copyright legislation and Legislative Decree 42/2004. It is also possible to make reproductions using personal equipment or scanners (self-service mode) in the reading rooms, in accordance with Article 108 of the Cultural Heritage and Landscape Code and in compliance with copyright legislation.
We do not accept requests by telephone. All requests submitted to the Library must be authorised by the collection curators, who will forward them to the external company contracted to provide the service. The company will issue a non-binding quotation, which must be confirmed by the applicant. Once the quotation has been confirmed and payment has been made, the company will produce the reproductions and deliver them online.
The content and quality of digital reproductions derived from analogue media held in the Library’s photographic archive (microfilm, DiaColor, FotoColor) reflect the content of the original analogue medium.
Digital reproductions produced for study purposes are supplied with a watermark, which does not affect their legibility.
In accordance with the guidelines of the Biblioteca Digitale Italiana, reproductions from originals are carried out on a single-page basis.
Information on the regulations governing reproduction rights is available on the dedicated page.

Scanning of documents via the Interlibrary Loan Service
The Library’s Interlibrary Loan Service also supplies other libraries with partial copies of the Library’s modern documents. Therefore, for requests for scans of documents published after 1900, we recommend—also because it is more cost-effective—that you submit your request through the Interlibrary Loan Service of the library nearest to your place of residence or of the university where you study or work.
